ACER PAL PUNG KIL
Grower Notes:

Acer palmatum 'Pung kil' is commonly referred to as Pung kil Japanese Maple. This ideal red linearilobum Japanese Maple is noteworthy for its delicate, slender, strap-like leaves that emerge dark red in spring and maintain a deep purple-red color throughout summer, turning brilliant red in the fall. Dark purple stems provide winter interest once the leaves fall. It is similar to Red Pygmy Japanese Maple, but has longer, narrower lobed leaves.

Pung kil Japanese Maple thrives in full sun with a bit of afternoon shade. It enjoys loamy, sandy, evenly moist, well-draining soils. It can be drought tolerant once established. It is named after Mr. Pung Kil of Chollipo Arboretum in South Korea.
